Choosing Ergonomic Furniture For The Best Hybrid Work Setup In Your LA Apartment

Choosing Ergonomic Furniture For The Best Hybrid Work Setup In Your LA Apartment

Hybrid work has become the norm as 74 percent of employers are now offering hybrid work arrangements. As the hybrid workplace model mixes on-site and remote work for employees, people have started to invest more in their home office setup since majority of workers prefer to spend most of their workweek in their primary residence. But apart from creating an attractive home office, it’s important that your workspace allows you to be more productive and comfortable while you work. For that, you’ll need to add ergonomic furniture into your home.

Ergonomic furniture is essential since it can reduce the number of work-related injuries, provides posture support, and prevents body pain, among others. If you want to improve your hybrid work setup, here’s how to choose ergonomic furniture for your LA apartment.

Start with an Ergonomic Chair

If you can only have one piece of ergonomic furniture in your home, then consider getting an ergonomic chair. Head to a store to buy it instead of getting it online. Keep it mind that you may need to try sitting on a few chairs before you can find the perfect one for you since ergonomic chairs come in different shapes, fabrics, and sizes. When trying out chairs, take note of the seat width and depth since the part of your body that gets the most pressure while you’re sitting is your buttocks. Sitting for hours results in discomfort in this area, and to prevent pain, your chair should be able to support you comfortably.

Ideally, the ergonomic chair should be 18 to 20 inches wide, and when you lean against the backrest, there should be at least 2 to 4 inches of space between the back of your knees and the seat of the chair. It should also provide proper lumbar support. Check to see if the chair has a lumbar adjustment feature so you can adjust it to the curve of your spine.

Add an Adjustable Standing Desk

If you work on a computer for hours, chances are that you’re spending too much time sitting down. Studies suggest that prolonged sitting can increase the risk of developing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and deep vein thrombosis. Sitting for hours can also result in pain, whether you’re working on your laptop, reading, or watching TV since it stiffens your joints. To tackle work related pain, consider adding an adjustable standing desk to your set up.

This type of ergonomic furniture allows you to sit, stand, or stretch while working. For a budget option, consider a manual adjustable standing desk, which comes with a hand crank that you only need to turn to adjust the height. If you want something that’s easier to use though, go for an electric model or one that has pneumatic lifts. Choose an ergonomic table with a push button feature for easy height adjustment. You can also get a table that allows you to pre-program your desired table heights so it automatically adjusts to the perfect height for sitting or standing.

Enhance Ergonomics with These Accessories

Apart from an ergonomic table and chair, there are other things that you can add to your hybrid work setup to enhance comfort while you work. For instance, a monitor stand can help reduce eye strain since it puts your monitor at the perfect height. Footrests can reduce the pressure on your feet, while an ergonomic keyboard supports your hands and wrists to reduce the risks of repetitive motion injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Adding ergonomic furniture to your LA apartment can help you to stay healthy and pain-free while you work. Consider these items for your hybrid work setup so you can be comfortable and productive while working at home.
