These U.S. Cities Are Expensive for Renters

It is everyone’s dream to live comfortably, and you surely can get all those comfort you want in most U.S. cities, especially the very popular ones. However, comfort may come with a price, and in this case, just like many others, expensiveness. As a renter, some U.S. cities might be too expensive for you, especially if you are earning not that much. Now here are expensive U.S. cities for renters:

 

  1. San Francisco

This shouldn’t be a surprise to you. The cost of living in San Francisco is very high, as groceries and other items are very expensive, but people keep flocking to it because it has an Asian influence, a high tech area and lovely to be. Renting a one-bedroom can go for $3,300 a month, and you should be budgeting around $123,268 if you want to live comfortably in San Francisco.

 

  1. New York

New York city is very expensive, as it stands at the third highest city to rent in the country. A one bedroom costs an average of $2,295 every month, and you should be earning from $100,000 annually, as statistics shows that to live comfortably here, it will cost you $99,667.

 

  1. San Jose

 

Living in the middle of Silicon Valley is the dream of many since it offers you more opportunity, but it is expensive. The rent here is an average of $2,395 monthly, but that shouldn’t be a turnoff because it has the highest earning in all cities, as an average earning in this city is $90,303. You need an average of $99,431 to live comfortably in San Jose.

 

  1. Oakland

Most often than not, those who can’t afford to live in San Francisco find solace in Oakland. Even though it is less expensive than San Francisco, many residents of Oakland who earn an average of $57,778 are finding it difficult to survive in this city. A one-bedroom here costs an average of $2,195, and it will cost you $95,611 to live comfortably here.

 

  1. Washington, D.C.

Living in the city that houses power for the U.S. can be expensive, as you won’t get groceries cheap here. Nevertheless, transportation costs are lower, and the rent here is typically $2,170 per month. You need an average of $90,811 to live comfortably in D.C.

 

  1. Seattle

Rents in Seattle is growing quickly, as new residents are flooding the city. The rent here is about $1,975, and it is cheaper compared to other cities listed above. You need about $89,248 To live comfortably in Seattle.

 

  1. Boston

Even if it comes 7th on our list, Boston has one of the highest rate in the nation for rent, with an average of $2,100. The city has a good public transport system, one of the reasons transport is a bit lower than average. Living comfortably in Boston will cost you $88, 967.

 

  1. Los Angeles

Los Angeles, which is well known for movies is also growing as a startup hub. The rent here is averagely $2,050.  To live comfortably here, you should budget about $87,260. This city has a strong allure and is very welcoming especially for startups.
